Bottom is a British anarchic sitcom written by and starring the comedy pair Rik Mayall and Adrian Edmondson as the socially awkward, sexually inexperienced Richie Richard and the carefree alcoholic Eddie Hitler, two social outcasts living on the dole in a squalid flat in Hammersmith, London. They spend their days plotting, quarreling, and being vicious and sadistic to one another, as they are perpetually destitute, bored, and sexually unfulfilled. The show lasted for three seasons, from 1991 to1995, on BBC Two, and was followed by five stage performance tours in the United Kingdom between 1993 and2003, as well as a feature film titled Guest House Paradiso. The show is renowned for its anarchic, nihilistic humor and comedic violence. In a 2008 BBC vote to identify "Britain's Best Sitcom," Bottom ranked number 45. The show continues to air on Gold and Dave in the United Kingdom and has been dubbed in other languages. The show is called as La pareja basura in Spain, and it broadcast onCanal+. The Bum Notes, a band that originally featured Edmondson, contributed the theme music, which is a cover of "Last Night" by The Mar-Keys. In2012, Hooligan's Island, a BBC spin-off series involving the Bottom characters Richie and Eddie, was planned. However, in October of that year, prior to production, Edmondson canceled the project, citing his desire to pursue other interests.
