The manga was turned into an anime series that was first shown on NTV from 1983 to1984. The second season ran from 1984 to 1985. It has also been made into a TV movie in 1988 and a movie that was shown in theaters in 1997. Cat's Eye is one of the best-selling manga series in the history of Weekly Shnen Jump. Over 18 million copies have been sold. The anime has also been shown in Canada, France, Germany, Italy, the Philippines, and China, among other places outside of Japan.
