The British Broadcasting Corporation created Doctor Who Confidential to compliment the relaunch of the long-running British science fiction television programme Doctor Who. Each episode aired on BBC Three on Saturdays, after the weekly television show on BBC One. The duration of the first two series was 30 minutes, while the duration of the third was 45 minutes. BBC Three also aired a 15-minute version of the program after the Sunday and Friday repeats and the weeknight evening replays of previous seasons. Confidential includes behind-the-scenes video on the development of Doctor Who through snippets and interviews with the cast, production crew, and other individuals, including those who have collaborated in the television programme throughout its life. Each episode focuses on a different subject, and in most cases references the episode that came before it. There have also been two episodes of Doctor Who Confidential broadcast outside of the showing of Doctor Who episodes: in November 2006, an edition titled "Music and Monsters" was produced to go behind the scenes of a televised concert of soundtrack music produced for that year's Children in Need appeal, and on 3 January 2009, a special edition was aired to announce the actor chosen to play the Eleventh Doctor.
