Earth 2 is an American science fiction television series that aired on NBC from November 6, 1994 to June 4, 1995. The show was discontinued after one season of 22 episodes. It recounts the trip and settlement of the Eden Project, a tiny expeditionary crew with the goal of traveling to an Earth-like planet called G889 in search of a treatment for a disease known as "the syndrome." Michael Duggan, Carol Flint, Mark Levin, and Billy Ray conceived the series, which was produced by Amblin Entertainment and Universal Television and filmed mostly in northern New Mexico around the Santa Fe area. David Bergeaud composed the series' music, and Michael Duggan, Mark Levin, and Carol Flint served as executive producers. The show's audience was initially extremely strong, reaching ninth place; but, by April 23 of the following year, Nielsen ratings share had declined from 23% to 9%. It was nominated for a Primetime Emmy, a Saturn Award, and other honors during its tenure. The full series was released on DVD in a four-disc collection in 2005.
