Ellen
Ellen is a 109-episode American television sitcom that ran on the ABC network from March 29, 1994 until July 22, 1998. Ellen Morgan, played by Ellen DeGeneres, was a neurotic bookstore owner in her thirties. The show focused on Ellen's interactions with her eccentric friends, family, and the issues of everyday life. The sitcom is significant for being the first in which the main character came out as homosexual, which DeGeneres' character did in the 1997 episode "Puppy Episode." This occurrence garnered extensive media coverage, sparked controversy, and caused ABC to include a parental advice at the beginning of each program. The series' theme tune, "So Called Friend," is performed by the Scottish band Texas. Each episode had a unique opening credits sequence, owing to Ellen's continuing quest for the perfect opening credits.
