Kathy Burke plays the role of Linda La Hughes, who lives in the same apartment complex as Tom Farrell (James Dreyfus). Linda suffers from obesity, has a loud mouth, and lacks any kind of attractiveness. However, she is convinced that she is stunning and irresistible to others. She is also sexually obsessed and has a fixation on guys. Tom has big dreams of becoming an actress. Even though he has an agent, it is still tough for him to get parts. In spite of (or perhaps due to the fact that they share) the apartment, he does not have a particularly warm relationship with Linda. She isn't quite at ease with his sexual orientation, possibly because she finds it challenging to cohabitate with a man who doesn't find her sexually attractive.
