Through his friend Danma Ryuji, Onizuka Eikichi, a former member of a famous bike gang, goes to Meishu Academy to care for the trees in the garden as a part-time gardener. When Onizuka finds out that Yoshikawa Noboru, a student in Fuyutsuki Azusa's class, is being bullied by Uehara Kyoko and other students, he befriends and saves Yoshikawa. Sakurai Yoshiko, the school's president and principal, hires Onizuka as a teacher over the objections of her vice principal Uchiyamada Hiroshi. This is because Onizuka's way of solving problems is new and very strong. As the teacher in charge of Class 2–4, which is the most troublesome class, Onizuka continues to deal with many problems.
