CBS Productions and Leonard Freeman create Hawaii Five-O. The Hawaii-based show ran from 1968 to 1980 and continues in reruns. Jack Lord played Detective Lieutenant Steve McGarrett, chief of a special state police task squad patterned on a 1940s outfit. Morton Stevens' theme was popular. Many episodes ended with McGarrett telling Danno to "Book 'em," occasionally adding "kill one."
