An incident has made headlines across Japan. The case concerns the Doizaki couple, who murdered their 15-year-old daughter and kept her remains for 16 years under their house. Toshiko Hagitani, a housewife, pays a visit to Shigeko Maehata, a freelance editor. Toshiko informs Shigeko that her 12-year-old son Hitoshi may be able to view other people's memories. She takes a drawing by Hitoshi out of her bag. A girl with a grey-colored face lies in a house with a bat-shaped weather vane on its roof in the image. The image appears to reflect the Doizaki couple's altercation. Hitoshi is killed in a car accident, so Shigeko decides to do some investigation. Meanwhile, the Doizaki couple's attorney informs their second daughter Seiko that the pair has severed all relations with her. A female high school student is detained at that time.
