Kidnapped
This ambitious serial (a co-production between HTV and Germany's Tele-Munchen) stars David McCallum as the rebellious Alan Breck Stewart and features a number of British character performers, including Bill Simpson, Patrick Allen, Andrew Keir, Patrick Magee, and Frank Windsor. When young David Balfour comes at his uncle's austere Scottish home to claim his inheritance, his uncle tries to murder him and sends him to the colonies to be sold into slavery. Fortunately, he forms a relationship with Alan Breck Stewart, who is on the run following Bonnie Prince Charlie's defeat at Culloden. When a ship's captain attempts to kill Breck for his money, he and his companion make their way to Edinburgh while evading the Redcoats.
