Knowing Me Knowing You with Alan Partridge is a six-episode BBC television series and 1995 Christmas special. It is called after the ABBA song "Knowing Me, Knowing You," which was the show's theme tune. Alan Partridge, an unskilled but self-satisfied Norwich-based host, was portrayed by Steve Coogan. Alan was a character created for the parody radio program On the Hour. Knowing Me Knowing You was written by Coogan, Armando Iannucci, and Patrick Marber, with additions from Alan's regular weekly guests Doon Mackichan, Rebecca Front, and David Schneider. The show's music and orchestration were provided by Steve Brown, who also appeared as Glen Ponder, the guy in command of the house band. The program satirized chat shows. The laughing of the live audience prevented viewers from mistaking the program for a genuine conversation show. Alan went on to star in two seasons of the sitcom I'm Alan Partridge, which followed his life after the termination of his marriage and television career.
