In the fall of1991, ABC debuted the half-hour children's programme Land of the Lost on Saturday mornings. Nickelodeon eventually acquired reruns. Tiger Toys was granted the permission to make a toyline based on the series, which includes standard and "talking" action figures, numerous dinosaurs and playsets, an electronic Crystal Sword, an electronic LCD game, and a board game. During a family vacation, Tom, Kevin, and Annie Porter are transported into a prehistoric parallel universe. The Porters construct a treehouse and make friends with a few natives, including Tasha, an orphaned dinosaur with superior intelligence, Stink, a monkey man, and Christa, a human who has lived in the Land of the Lost since she was a child. The Porters must contend with living alongside dinosaurs and evade the dangerous, technologically advanced Sleestaks.
