Linebarrels of Iron

The manga creators are Eiichi Shimizu and Tomohiro Shimoguchi. The series debuted in 2005 in Akita Shoten's Champion Red manga magazine. Since November2008, it's been bundled into 11 tankbon. Kouichi Hayase, a 14-year-old living a mediocre life, becomes the pilot of a giant robot called "Linebarrel" and meets a mystery girl. Animage magazine announced a manga-to-anime adaptation in February. Gonzo animated Masamitsu Hidaka's animation. The first episode premiered at Southern California's 2008 Anime Expo, but in Japan on TBS on October3, 2008. The final episode aired on March 20, 2009. To honor the series' anime adaptation, Shimizu and Shimoguchi created a one-shot manga reproducing the anime's first episode, whose plot differs from the manga's.
