Masked Rider is an American translation of the Japanese television series Kamen Rider Black RX, the ninth in a long line of Kamen Rider series. Saban produced the show, which aired on FOX from September16, 1995 to August31, 1996 as part of the Fox Kids program block, and then in syndication from September9, 1996 until September 1997. The copyright for Masked Rider was transferred from BVS International to SCG Power Rangers on May 7, 2010. One week before his own series debuted, Masked Rider's titular main character appeared in a three-part Power Rangers episode called "A Friend in Need." The Rangers were never addressed in the Masked Rider television series, as Saban restructured it to cut ties with the Power Rangers. The Rangers did, however, appear in Masked Rider's short-lived Marvel Comics adaptation. Masked Rider's battle and villain scenes, like those in the early seasons of Power Rangers and VR Troopers, were based on Japanese stock footage, specifically Kamen Rider Black RX. Episodes also featured Ferbus interacting with Combat Chopper and Magno, as well as the two Japanese Kamen Rider films Kamen Rider ZO and Kamen Rider J.
