Monster Squad

The later movie with the same name, Monster Squad, has no connection to the television series of the same name that ran on NBC on Saturday mornings from 1976-1977 with the same title. In the series, Fred Grandy plays the role of Walt, a student of criminology who also works as a night watchman at "Fred's Wax Museum." Walt created a prototype of a "Crime Computer" in order to pass the time. He buried it in a massive stone tomb that was located close to an exhibit of legendary creatures. When Walt plugged in his computer, "oscillating vibrations" brought to life the wax sculptures of Dracula, the Wolfman, who in this case was titled "Bruce W. Wolf," and Frankenstein's Monster, who was referred to as "Frank N. Stein" in the credits. In an effort to atone for the wrongs they had committed in the past, the monsters transformed themselves into crime-fighting superheroes and employed their special skills to take on and vanquish a wide variety of supervillains. Walt would, in the majority of episodes, dispatch the monsters to investigate crimes and battle criminals while monitoring the goings-on from the wax museum via the Crime Computer. This was likely due to the fact that Walt's profession required him to be present at the wax museum at all times. On the other hand, in certain episodes Walt would sometimes participate in the decisive struggle alongside his allies and come to their aid when it was required.
