Do you believe the days of bootleggers, backwoods stills, and "white lightning" have passed you by? No way! It's a billion-dollar business. But, perhaps more crucially to the moonshiners, it's a centuries-old custom that their forefathers have passed down to them. It's a part of their culture and history. While this practice is still going strong, it is not necessarily legal. Moonshiners is a documentary about persons who make moonshine, often in the forests near their homes using camouflaged equipment, and the local authorities who strive to keep them honest. The sacred rite of passage for a moonshiner-firing up the still for the first time-will be shown to viewers, which is rarely, if ever, seen on television. They'll also meet legends such as Marvin "Popcorn" Sutton, the legendary moonshiner.
