As a dentist and a family guy, Ben Harper is a rather successful individual. Mid-life crisis and trying to deal with the strange reality of raising teenagers are also affecting him. Susan, his wife, appears to be happy and enjoys her profession as a tour guide in London, but at home her cooking skills are less successful. Their three children, Nick, Janey, and Michael, are as dissimilar as chalk and cheese in their parents' eyes. There's Nick(19), a gap year student who doesn't get much further than the couch or the employment center, Janey(16), an extremely clever computer-nerdy teenager on the verge of adulthood, and Michael(12), who is just discovering girls.
