The worldwide veterinarian David Taylor and his work caring for exotic animals at zoos in Britain were the subjects of this series, which was created by Anthony Read and chronicled his career from the 1950s all the way through the 1970s. The first, second, and third seasons each took place in a different decade, and outside scenes were shot at Dudley Zoo, Chester Zoo, and Knowsley Safari Park, respectively. In total, thirty-two episodes were produced for the show. Turner was played by Rob Heyland, while the rest of the prominent cast members included James Ellis, Sonia Graham, Peter Gilmore, Heather James, Catherine Schell, Peter Jeffrey, Andrew Robertson, and Christina Nagy.
