One Foot in the Grave

One Foot in the Grave is a BBC television sitcom series. The plot revolves around Victor Meldrew and his long-suffering wife, Margaret. Meldrew's battle against the troubles he makes for himself is a recurring theme in the shows. Victor takes involuntary early retirement while living in a normal English suburb. The themes of the sitcom revolve around his different attempts to keep himself busy while encountering various tragedies and misunderstandings. The majority of the series was shot on location in Walkford, near New Milton in Hampshire, while various hints indicate that the series may have been set in Hampshire — probably Winchester. Despite its typical production, the series' domestic sitcom setting is supplemented with elements of black humour and surrealism.
