Out of This World is an American fantasy sitcom about a teenage girl who has special supernatural abilities due to her alien heritage. It originally broadcast in syndication from September 17, 1987 through May 25, 1991. During its first season, the series was part of NBC's Prime Time Begins at 7:30 initiative, in which the network's owned-and-operated stations aired first-run sitcoms in the 7:30-8 pm time slot to counterprogramming competing stations' game shows, comedy reruns, and other programming. Out of This World was paired with the original series Marblehead Manor and She's the Sheriff, a revival of the 1983 sitcom We Got It Made, and an adaptation of the play You Can't Take It With You. Due to the low ratings posted by three of the shows during the 1987-88 season, NBC halted the experiment after that year, with Out of This World being one of the two that were renewed. After its first season, the majority of the series was relocated to weekend timeslots, where it remained until its fourth season discontinuation.
