Queer as Folk
Queer as Folk is a British television series that premiered in 1999 and follows the lives of three gay men who live in Manchester's gay village around Canal Street. Russell T Davies wrote both Queer as Folk and Queer as Folk 2. The first series was re-aired on More 4 between October 14 and 18, 2007, as part of Channel 4's 25th anniversary celebrations. The Red Production Company created Queer as Folk for Channel 4. The title of the show comes from a Northern English dialect expression that means "there's nothing so strange as people," which is a word play on the modern English synonym for "queer," which means homosexual. Davies had originally titled the series this, but at the request of Channel 4 executives, it was renamed Queer as Fuck for a brief period during development and pre-production before reverting to its original title.
