Rescue 8 is a syndicated American action drama series about the Rescue Squad 8 of the Los Angeles County Fire Department. It debuted in 1958 and ran for two seasons, with syndicated reruns continuing for over a decade after that. It starred Jim Davis as firefighter Wes Cameron, who went on to play Jock Ewing on CBS's Dallas, and Lang Jeffries as firefighter Skip Johnson. Nancy Rennick and Mary K. Cleary featured in twenty-four episodes as Patty Johnson and Susan Johnson, Skip Johnson's wife and daughter, respectively. Screen Gems produced the series, which was directed by Dann Cahn and William Witney. Seventy-four half-hour episodes of Rescue 8 were created. Station 8 of the Los Angeles County Fire Department is located at 7643 West Santa Monica Boulevard in West Hollywood, California. Rescue 8 depicts more physically demanding rescues than the later, related television series Emergency!, because firemen were not trained as paramedics until the early 1970s.
