Salatut elämät is a Finnish TV series that debuted on MTV3 on January25, 1999. It was Finland's first and only daily soap opera up to that point. Over 2,500 episodes have been broadcast in the series' 14-year span. Salatut elämät was declared to continue on the air until the spring of 2015 on August17,2009, making it Finland's second longest-running drama series, only behind Yle TV1's Kotikatu. The plots of the series follow the daily lives of numerous families who share an apartment building in Helsinki. The villagers of Pihlajakatu and the surrounding environs are the focus of the series. Only three of the initial twenty characters, Seppo, Ismo, and Kalle, are still in the series, and the majority of the current cast debuted in 2008 or later. Every weekend, MTV3 broadcasts reruns of the show. The channel airs repeats of the series during the summer; in the summer of2011, episodes from seasons 2006–2007 and 2007–2008 were broadcast. Romeo & Rafael Desperados was released in2008, Lillukanvarsia was released in2010–2011, Tuuliranta was released in2011–2012, and "Young guy cash man" was released in 2013.
