The modest and meek instructor Vasily is seen on camera ranting about the awful state of affairs in his nation. When a student uploads the video to YouTube, it goes viral. People begin collecting funds for a presidential campaign as a result of the popularity of Vasily's anger. That he wins! Servant of the People follows Vasily's new life as president; he has no desire to change his life; he wants to continue living in his apartment with his parents, borrowing money from his friends at the end of the month, and riding his bicycle to work; the only difference is that now he is the most powerful man in the country.
