Ben Stiller, Andy Dick, Janeane Garofalo, and Bob Odenkirk are among the cast members of the Fox comedy. In addition, every episode featured character actor John F. O'Donohue. Many of the videotaped comedic parts ridiculed popular culture from the mid-1980s through the early 1990s. Despite mostly excellent reviews, Fox decided to terminate the show after only 12 episodes due to low viewership. The Ben Stiller Show didn't have a studio audience or a laugh track, unlike most sketch comedy shows. There was no laugh track on this Fox sketch comedy show. The Andy Dick Show, a semi-spinoff, followed suit. The series earned the Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing in a Variety Series in 1993 after it was cancelled.
