Alex Toth is credited with creating and designing The Herculoids, an animated cartoon television series that first aired on Saturday mornings in the United States and was produced by Hanna-Barbera Productions. The first episode of the show aired on CBS on September 9, 1967. Although Hanna-Barbera only produced one season of The Herculoids for the show's initial showing, all 18 of the show's original episodes were rebroadcast during the 1968–1969 television season. The Herculoids' run on television was terminated on September 6, 1969. As part of the Space Stars television show, eleven brand new episodes were created in the year 1981. The storylines are based on science fiction, and the narrative structure and subject matter are very comparable to those of Jonny Quest and Space Ghost. The events of this series take place on the faraway planet Amzot. The word "Amzot" was initially referenced for the first time in the Space Ghost episode titled "The Molten Monsters of Moltar," as well as in the episode titled "Time Creatures," which was part of the main series.
