The Invisible Man is an American Sci-Fi TV show with Vincent Ventresca, Paul Ben-Victor, Eddie Jones, Shannon Kenny, and Michael McCafferty as the main characters. It aired from June 9, 2000, to February 1, 2002, for two seasons. It was a bit more popular than other TV shows about invisible secret agents. The story is about a thief named Darien Fawkes who was going to spend the rest of his life in prison. He was recruited by a low-rent spy organization and given the ability to be invisible by putting a "Quicksilver gland" in his head. The gland lets Fawkes' pores and hair follicles release a substance called "Quicksilver," which can bend light. The substance covers his skin, hair, nails, and clothes quickly, making him invisible. He can choose to let the Quicksilver go, and it will then flake off and break up. But scientist Arnaud DeFehrn messed up the Quicksilver gland when he made it so that it would release a neurotoxin that builds up in the bloodstream and causes intense pain, followed by antisocial behavior and psychosis. The host needs regular doses of "counteragent," which is controlled by that government agency, to stay healthy and sane. This show ran for two seasons before it was canceled because of cost issues and fighting between the Sci Fi Channel and USA Networks, which was its parent company at the time. The first season of the show was shown on both Sci Fi and first-run syndication at the same time.
