The Kids in the Hall
The Kids in the Hall is a Canadian sketch comedy ensemble composed of comedians Dave Foley, Kevin McDonald, Bruce McCulloch, Mark McKinney, and Scott Thompson, who created the group in 1984. Their eponymous television show aired on CBC from 1988 to 1994 in Canada and on CBS and HBO from 1989 to 1995 in the United States. "Having an Average Weekend" by Canadian band Shadowy Men on a Shadowy Planet served as the theme song for the show. 1996 saw the debut of the group's sole film, Brain Candy. In 2000, the group reunited for numerous tours and comic festivals. In January of 2010, they published Death Comes to Town, an eight-part serial. Sid Caesar used the term "the kids in the hall" to refer to a group of young writers who hung out in the studio when a joke bombed or performed poorly.
