Australian television series The Librarians, which aired on ABC TV on October 31st, 2007 The show is broadcast in Ireland on RTÉ Two. Robyn Butler and Wayne Hope, who star as the show's producers and writers, also serve as executive producers and writers on the show. Hope also serves as the show's director. Six half-hour episodes made up the inaugural season. The Royal Melbourne Showgrounds served as the backdrop for the second season, which debuted on 5 August 2009 and included six new episodes. Frances O'Brien, the head librarian of a Catholic school with a blatantly discriminatory agenda, is the focus of the show. When she is compelled to hire her former best friend, Christine Grimwood, as the children's librarian, her life spirals out of control. Frances must do everything she can to keep her dangerous past at bay and focus on the library's most important event, Book Week. The third season of the show began filming in early 2010 and was shown on ABC1 later that year. The Librarians theme song is an energetic version of Dizzy Gillespie's jazz standard "A Night in Tunisia."
