From November 19, 1959, through June 27, 1964, ABC and NBC broadcast the Rocky & Bullwinkle Show, an American animated television sitcom. The show is made by Jay Ward Productions and is set up like a variety show. The main focus is on the adventures of the two main characters, the anthropomorphic moose Bullwinkle and the flying squirrel Rocky. In most of their adventures, the Russian-like spies Boris Badenov and Natasha Fatale are their main foes. The supporting segments include Dudley Do-Right, Peabody's Improbable History, and Fractured Fairy Tales, among others. Rocky & Bullwinkle is known for its good writing and dry humor. It was funny for both adults and kids because it used puns, satire of culture and current events, and humor that made fun of itself. It was also one of the first cartoons whose animation was done by someone else. Storyboards were sent to Gamma Productions, a Mexican studio also used by Total Television. So, the art looks choppy and unfinished, and the animation is very limited, even by TV animation standards. But people who have seen the series have always thought it was good. Some critics have said that it is like a well-written radio show with pictures.
