Thomas & Friends
Thomas & Friends debuted on ITV on September 4, 1984. It is based on The Railway Series by Reverend Wilbert Awdry and his son Christopher Awdry. These books focus on the exploits of anthropomorphized locomotives and road vehicles who reside on the fictitious island of Sodor. The books were inspired by the tales Wilbert told his son Christopher while he was recovering from measles. From the first through the fourth series, many of the storylines are based on Awdry's real experiences.
