To Love-Ru is a manga series that was written by Saki Hasemi and illustrated by Kentaro Yabuki, who is well known for creating Black Cat. Between April24, 2006 and August31,2009, the manga was serialized in Shueisha's manga magazine Weekly Shnen Jump; a total of 18 tankobon volumes have been published in Japan to date. In February of 2008, an original story was included on a drama CD that was released. Between April and September of2008, a 26-episode adaptation of the anime series by Xebec was broadcast in Japan. Between April 2009 and April2010, Xebec created a total of six episodes of their original video animation series. Between the months of October and December in2010, Xebec broadcast the second season of their show Motto To-Love Ru, which consisted of 12 episodes. August of 2008 saw the release of a video game for the Nintendo DS, and October of that same year saw the release of a video game for the PlayStation Portable. On October4,2010, a continuation of the manga titled To Love-Ru Darkness began appearing in Shueisha's Jump Square magazine as a serial. In October of2012, an anime television series adaptation of the manga To-Love Ru Darkness created by Xebec began airing. "trouble" is a loanword from the English language, and "rabu" means "love." The title, "trouble," is the English gairaigo. The series has a harem, which is referred to as "love problem" in the title, which is a pun on the terms themselves.
