Triangle

During the early 1980s, the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) aired a soap opera called Triangle that took place on a North Sea ferry that traveled from Felixstowe to Gothenburg and then from Gothenburg to Amsterdam. A third fictitious leg between Amsterdam and Felixstowe was supposed to exist in order to explain the program's title, but the ferry operator did not really run this leg. Although it was only on the air for a total of three seasons before it was pulled off the schedule, many people still consider it to be "some of the most mockable television that the British have ever produced." As a result of the scripts' use of cliched relationships and clunky conversation, the show became the punchline of a number of jokes, most notably on Terry Wogan's morning show on Radio2, which caused the BBC some degree of embarrassment. The first episode of Triangle was shown for the first time on TV Hell, an evening of programming that aired on the BBC in 1992 and was dedicated to showcasing the worst that television has to offer. The ferry that was utilized during the first series was the MS Tor Scandinavia, which was operated by Tor Line. This was switched out for the DFDS vessel Dana Anglia for the second and third series, most likely because she had a less hectic schedule and the longer amount of time she remained in port made it simpler to film on-board.
