UFO Hunters is a three-season American television series that debuted on The History Channel on January 30, 2008, and was produced by Motion Picture Production Inc. Jon Alon Walz was the show's Executive Producer, and he was in charge of selling the series to History Channel after a bidding war between History Channel and Sci-Fi Channel erupted over the show's rights. The show's premise was tested in a part of the History Channel's 2006 UFO special "Deep Sea UFOs," produced by Motion Picture Production Inc, and starring two of the final four cast members. "UFO Hunters" was not a sequel to a 2005 History Channel show of the same name. The show's tagline is "Hoax or History?" The series should not be confused with a similar themed and titled UFO Hunters, a special that debuted on the Sci-Fi Channel on the same day and time as Ghost Hunters and was developed by the Ghost Hunters creators, but only aired one episode. In the United States, History Channel only released the first two seasons on DVD in the sequence they aired. However, the format was only available in full screen rather than wide screen. The third and final season of History Channel was published on DVD in the United Kingdom, although the episodes were issued in the incorrect airdate sequence.
