Michael Allcock hosts the 30-minute documentary-style series Urban Legends. In 2011, David Hewlett took over as the new host. In each episode, three urban legends are dramatized and presented to the television audience; the audience is then asked to guess whether one or two of the three are true. Every mythology has witnesses who can narrate the tale. The witnesses in one or two false stories are actors, whereas actual persons impacted by the story are used in the authentic version. Each episode includes two small quiz-like stories called mini-myths, which air before the commercial breaks. Each will begin with the number of the mini myth and its name, followed by the story. Following the commercial, the answer to the mini-myth is revealed, and the rest of the show resumes as before. The show first broadcast on the Biography Channel in the United States, History Television in Canada, and FX in the United Kingdom, where it was presented by Mark Dolan. Argentina, New Zealand, Sweden, Norway, Australia, Finland, Estonia, The Netherlands, Russia, Hungary, and Denmark have all seen it. The series briefly returned to the Syfy network as a "Original Series," with new episodes beginning on Monday, April18,2011, before returning to its regular time, Fridays at 10. The new episodes followed the same pattern as the originals, but were narrated by Stargate's David Hewlett. The show is now reruns and mini-marathons on SyFy and Chiller.
