X Factor is a Dutch talent show for pop singers that airs on TV. The contestants are chosen from public auditions. It is shown on the RTL4 Network in the Netherlands every Friday night. The first season of the show ran from October 2006 to February 2007, and the second season ran from January 2009 to May 2009. The show is made by Blue Circle, and Fiat is the sponsor at the moment. The "X Factor" in the title refers to that "something" that can't be put into words but makes a star. Idols, which was very popular, was replaced by X Factor after its third and fourth seasons, when it went on an indefinite break. During the show's first televised audition round, contestants sing for the X Factor judges in hopes of making it to "boot camp." After a second round of judging, each judge is given a category to help with, and the finalists move on to the next round, where the public votes on live performances. Pop singer and TV host Gordon Heuckeroth, former Dolly Dots member Angela Groothuizen, rapper Ali Bouali, and alto saxophonist Candy Dulfer are the current judges. The first X Factor season started in October 2006 and ended in February 2007. It didn't get as much attention as Idols. Sharon Kips was the winner. The second show, which ran from January to May 2009, did better. It was won by Lisa Hordijk. Jaap van Reesema was the winner of the third round. The fourth set was won by Rochelle Perts. Haris Alagic was the winner of the fifth season.
