Shira Mendelman, age eighteen, is the family's youngest daughter. She is set to marry a promising young man her age and from a similar background. Shira is prepared and eager, since this is a dream come true. On Purim, Esther, her twenty-eight-year-old sister, dies during the delivery of her first child, Mordechay. Shira's intended match is postponed due to the family's sadness and grief. Everything changes when Yochay-late Esther's husband is proposed to by a widow from Belgium. Yochay believes it is premature, despite the fact that he recognizes that he will have to seriously consider marrying again sooner or later.
