Basketball
The story takes place during the turbulent years of the Japanese occupation until independence and a few years before the division of Korea into North and South. It tells the tale of the first and last time that Korea had a single, unified national basketball team, which made history by advancing to the quarterfinals of the 1948 London Olympics. The division of Korea into North and South took place a few years after the conclusion of the story. The story focuses on the loves, rivalries, bonds, and emotional triumphs of a group of young athletes who look to their sport as a beacon of hope in the midst of the gloom that surrounds them.
