Follow-up to August 2000's Witchblade pilot film brought us this series based on the Witchblade comic book series. Ralph Hemecker, Marc Silvestri, and J.D. Zeik contributed to the show's scripts in various ways. Anthony Cistaro had the role of Kenneth Irons and David Chokachi had the role of Jake McCartey. Eric Etebari had the role of Ian Nottingham and Will Yun Lee had the role of Danny Woo. Conrad Dunn played Tommy Gallo and Kenneth Welsh played Joe Siri. The program was canceled in September2002, and there was conjecture that the cancellation was linked to Butler's decision to seek rehab for alcoholism, which he had done. TNT broadcast the show for two seasons, resulting in a total of twenty-four episodes. Since its debut on June12,2001, the show has run for a total of ten seasons. The 2002 Top 10 Basic Cable Dramas included Witchblade, despite the show's demise. It was the highest-rated TV show ever to be canceled, according to Top Cow editor Matt Hawkins, who claims that the Witchblade series was canceled due to Yancy Butler's alcoholic behavior.
