Ted Boynton, an uptight salesperson in a Chicago-based company's Barcelona office in the 1980s, is an uptight salesman. He is surprised by the arrival of his cousin Fred, a navy lieutenant in Spain on a public relations mission for a US fleet. Ted and Fred, who were not particularly close in the past, develop relationships with women in the Spanish city and encounter friction–Ted with his job, and Fred with the Barcelona community.
