Shakespeare's Macbeth has been recreated by filmmaker Kit Monkman (The Knife That Killed Me) in an innovative new film adaption shot entirely on green screen. Mark Rowley is the lead actor in this film (The Last Kingdom, Luther). Monkman's one-of-a-kind adaptation skillfully bridges the gap between theatre and film to create an entirely new kind of imaginative realm. While keeping the language and themes of Shakespeare's original play, this bold new adaptation puts the audience's interaction with the story front and center, magnifying the theatrical context of the original and generating really novel and exhilarating cinematic landscapes. The green screen allows Monkman to create his idea of a multi-tiered planet in which the characters play out their many fates by using background matte painting and computer modeling to generate the setting in which the action takes place.
