Andromeda is a science fiction television series created by Robert Hewitt Wolfe and Majel Barrett, the late Gene Roddenberry's widow, based on unproduced material by the late Star Trek creator. High Guard Captain Dylan Hunt was played by Kevin Sorbo. When the show first aired on October 2, 2000, it ran until May 13, 2005, when it was finally cancelled. Attributed to Tribune Entertainment and Fireworks Entertainment are the producers of the picture Andromeda in Vancouver, British Colombia. Canada's Global TV handled distribution, although WGN and other networks in the US carried it as well. The Sci-Fi Channel took it up halfway through season four in the US. It is one of two television programs based on concepts developed by Roddenberry in the 1960s and '70s. Andromeda Genesis II and Planet Earth, two television pilots made by Gene Roddenberry in the 1970s, both included a character named Dylan Hunt. Earth: Final Conflict is the second series based on Roddenberry's notes that was produced after his death.
