President Donald P. Bellisario founded the American legal drama JAG, which Belisarius Productions in partnership with Paramount Network Television produces. Co-produced with NBC Productions, the first season was a success. The pilot episode of JAG aired on NBC on September23,1995, however the series was canceled on May22,1996, leaving one episode unaired. New episodes of the show will begin airing on CBS on January3, 1997 as a midseason replacement. Because of the show's success and popularity, CBS decided to continue airing JAG for an additional nine seasons. As a result of the success of NCIS, which was spawned from JAG, another successful series, NCIS: Los Angeles, was born. During its 5th season, JAG was broadcast in more than 100 countries throughout the world, with a total of 227 episodes created over 10 seasons. Early in1999, JAG became so successful that it was syndicated, and it continues to be seen frequently today.
