Penny Serenade
A light-hearted romance drama featuring Cary Grant and Irene Dunne as a couple who meet, fall in love, fight, and eventually reconcile. Julie Gardiner Adams (Irene Dunne) begins to ponder her history while listening to a tape of "Penny Serenade." During the course of the film, she reflects on her impetuous marriage to newspaper reporter Roger Adams (Cary Grant), which begins on a deliriously joyous note but ultimately ends in tragedy. Other songs bring back memories of their courtship, their marriage, their wish for a child, as well as the joys and sadness they have experienced together over the years. As she ponders their current troubles and the circumstances that led to them, a flood of memories comes flooding back to her.
